#23 – 10 Ways to Stay Active While You Travel
Getting out of the normal routine is a great thing because it forces you to be creative in your training. Taking a break from stress, habit, and routine is good, but that doesn’t mean you stop moving! Here are 10 ways that you can stay mobile, strong, and healthy while you travel or are on vacation!
1. go for a jog/run – simple, easy, and available wherever you are
2. Bodyweight exercises – same as the run, squats/pushups/pull-ups/core/burpees?!?
3. Play a sport – toss the pigskin, play basketball
4. Natural exercises – chop wood, carry rocks around, put up lights, build things
5. Long walks – hikes or walks around the neighborhood, doesn’t have to be intense, just keep moving!
6. Long distance lunges – miserable but effective, 5/10 minutes for go for distance
7. Hill sprints – find a hill, run up and walk back down
8. Drills on a field – bring cones or ladders, or set up lines/objects. Pro agility/ shuttles/patterns/suicides
9. Track workouts – find a local school and run 100’s/200/400 or anything, run rest repeat!
10. Yard work/house work – help out around the house, put up Christmas lights, clean out the garage. Don’t be lazy! Rake leaves!
